With over 10 years of experience, Jaymi seamlessly integrates with research teams to facilitate the design of strategic research initiatives. In her work, she synthesizes complex information, creates alignment across key interest parties, and catalyzes new ideas. Working with research teams, she supports the development of comprehensive and compelling funding proposals. Jaymi has an exceptional skillset for advancing complex initiatives, and her proven approach ensures that teams are poised for success.
Jaymi was most recently Manager with the Faculty of Medicine at Dalhousie University, where she advanced priority research teams through asset mapping, strategic planning, partnership brokering, major grant and philanthropic proposal development, and knowledge translation planning. In this role, she liaised closely with diverse emerging and globally recognized teams.
Prior to this, Jaymi worked as a Knowledge Translation Specialist with the McCaig Institute for Bone and Joint Health at the University of Calgary. Recognizing the opportunity to bridge connections between clinical researchers, basic scientists, and community partners, Jaymi engaged partners and supported the mobilization of research evidence. She was lead organizer of the Wood Forum, growing attendance from 60 people to more than 300. In partnership with TELUS Spark Science Center, she established Meet an Innovator Day and was instrumental in the establishment of a new Expressions of Arthritis program, designed for young people inflicted with the condition.
Jaymi has facilitated the development of more than $200M in collaborative proposals for grant and philanthropic opportunities, including $27M awarded to four projects through Research Nova Scotia’s Focused Research Investment opportunity; a successful $12.5M Canada Foundation for Innovation (CFI) infrastructure grant that established a new bone and joint health research center at the University of Calgary; a successful $17M proposal for phase II funding with the Maritime SPOR Support Unit (MSSU); and a centerpiece initiative as part of Dalhousie University’s institutional advancement campaign, among others. Jaymi was engaged by the University of Calgary as an independent contractor to support the development of six major CFI infrastructure proposals, all of which were successfully funded.
Jaymi has an undergraduate degree in Engineering from Dalhousie University, a PhD in Biomedical Engineering from the University of Calgary, and certification in knowledge translation (SickKids), behaviour change (UCL), effective facilitation (Dalhousie University), and research impact evaluation (Vertigo Ventures).
